Front doors are the heart of the range, and hardwood covers every look. Panelled and colonial designs like the Colonial 6 Panel, Hayes 16 Panel and Georgia suit traditional and period homes. Cleaner faces such as the York and DX30 work well on a newer build. Where you want light in a hallway, glazed and leaded fronts like the Malton, Derby and Estate Crown bring it in. Frosted glass, as on the Harrow and Balham, keeps the light while adding privacy, and unglazed panels give a solid, private entrance. Why Hardwood Outside?

Hardwood earns its place outdoors on strength as much as looks. It is a dense, close-grained timber, so it is naturally tough and insulating, which gives good security and thermal performance at the entrance. Because it is solid hardwood, each door carries its own grain, and the finish can be refreshed over the years rather than the whole door replaced. Fitted with quality locks and hung in a matching external door frame, a hardwood door is built to last for decades.

Finishing Hardwood

Hardwood arrives unfinished, and it gives you room to choose the look. A clear exterior wood oil protects the timber and lets the natural grain show, which suits the character of a real-wood door. If you would rather a colour, hardwood also takes an exterior stain or paint well, so you can match a porch, a period scheme or a front-door trend. Whichever you choose, seal every face and edge, including the top and bottom, before the door goes into service. Refresh the finish every year or two to keep the weather out.
