A door is only as good as the frame it hangs in. Our external door frames are the surround that carries the hinges, holds the door square and seals the opening against the weather. They come in solid oak, oak-faced engineered oak and FSC-certified red hardwood, each chosen for stability outdoors so the frame stays true through wet and dry spells. The oak frames are made to match the warm grain of our oak external doors, and every frame is sized for a standard 44mm external door. Frame Styles and Sizes

The range covers everything from a simple back door to a grand front entrance. Reversible frame-and-cill kits hang to open in or out and left or right, so one kit suits most openings. Adjustable vestibule frames go further, taking a door with one or two sidelights, a wide single door or a pair, to build the entrance the opening calls for. Some frames include beading and integral weather seals for a neat, draught-resistant fit, and there is a hardwood frame with a fanlight where you want light above the door. They suit our hardwood external doors as readily as an oak front door.

Finishing and Fitting

Because a frame lives outdoors, it needs treating like the door it holds. All our external door frames are supplied unfinished, so seal every face with a suitable exterior treatment before fitting, and re-coat it in step with the door for the longest life. Add a weather bar at the threshold to shed rain away from the cill. Choosing a proper external frame over an internal lining is what keeps a door hung true, sealed and protected for years.
