The Hidden Truth of Home Makeover Shows

Television schedules today are flooded with reality TV shows, which is no surprise - no costly actors or lengthy scripts means they're (generally) cheap and easy to produce, and audiences love them, which means big viewing figures, and lots of profits from advertisers. However while 'reality TV' shows are a world away from scripted dramas or sitcoms, the reality we're presented with isn't always that... realistic. The fact is that actual reality isn't usually that interesting (if someone followed you around with a camera on an average day, would people want to watch it?!) so instead, producers are forced to create situations and encourage interactions that make 'reality' a little bit more interesting. This is generally the case, whatever the type of reality TV, however some types of show make it particularly hard to spot what's really going on behind the scenes. Ever wondered what really happens on home makeover shows when the cameras stop rolling? Just take a look at the infographic below.
